Kabelo Moja (“Kabelo”) is a seasoned deal maker, with significant experience in deal origination and execution. Kabelo is a qualified and admitted attorney of the High Court of the Republic of South Africa. His qualifications include an LLB and Postgraduate Diploma in Tax from the University of the Witwatersrand and a LLM from the University of Pretoria. In his prior position as a senior legal advisor to the Public Investment Corporation SOC Limited, Kabelo was principally involved in the structuring of commercial and private equity transactions, negotiating and preparation of transaction agreements, and the provision of legal advisory services within the unlisted and listed investments space.
Kabelo has worked at the Public Investment Corporation SOC Limited as a senior legal advisor and periodically held an acting executive head of legal role, National Treasury of South Africa as a legal commercial director, Absa bank Limited a subsidiary of Barclays Plc and at Routledge Modise Inc. trading as Hogan Lovells South Africa. He is currently a director with Moja Legal and Advisory (Pty) Ltd, a boutique legal and advisory business that specializes in structuring and capital raising for various unlisted investments. He has extensive experience in corporate restructuring, mergers, corporate finance, litigation, a host of debt, equity and mezzanine funding and private equity across a diverse range of industries. Recent projects that Kabelo has been involved in include an equity and debt investment into several solar renewable energy power plants, syndicated debt funding for the construction and operation of a cement plant in Tanzania, the acquisition of a dry sanitation operation, a subscription for equity in a multinational paint manufacturer, a subscription into a multi-jurisdictional bank, a commitment of funding to several private equity funds, direct investments through an internal private equity fund and the provision of funding to a host of agri business operations.
Kabelo also forms part of the Ascension Investment Committee.
Sipho was an Assistant Manager in EY’s Transaction Tax Africa practice for 2 years before joining Ascension. He is a qualified tax adviser following the completion of his articles at EY.
He holds an Honours Degree specialising in Taxation and a BCom Degree in Financial Accounting from the University of Cape Town.
He has experience in both corporate and private equity due diligence, tax structuring of transactions including asset acquisitions, share acquisitions, mergers and cross-border transactions across Africa.
Tertius qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2014 after completing his articles in the Banking and Capital Markets division of PwC Sunninghill. At the start of 2015 he went on a short term secondment to New York City through Makosi Consulting. He specialized in financial service clients throughout his articles.
Tertius is a CFA Charter holder and for the past 3 years was a Corporate Finance Associate at Pallidus Capital where he worked on numerous Corporate Finance transaction mandates and also gained valuable experience in Venture Capital
